Anti-ADAM21 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein ADAM metallopeptidase domain 21. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 722 amino acid residues and a mass of 80.8 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the membrane. ADAM21 is suspected to be involved in sperm maturation and/or fertilization. Post-translational modifications have been described, including protein cleavage and glycosylation. Synonyms for this target antigen include disintegrin and metalloproteinase domain-containing protein 21, ADAM metallopeptidase domain 21, preproprotein, a disintegrin and metalloproteinase domain 21, and ADAM31. ADAM21 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat and bovine species. Western Blot is a widely used application for the Adam21 antibodies listed below. In addition, ELISA is also a common application.
