Anti-PGLS antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein 6-phosphogluconolactonase. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 258 amino acid residues and a mass of 27.5 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cytoplasm. It is notably widely expressed in many tissue types. A member of the Glucosamine/galactosamine-6-phosphate isomerase protein family, PGLS is known to be involved with carbohydrate metabolism and homeostasis. Synonyms for this target antigen include HEL-S-304, epididymis secretory protein Li 304, epididymis secretory sperm binding protein, and 6PGL. PGLS gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. A number of PGLS antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
