Anti-ICAM-1 antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the ICAM-1 antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the ICAM1 gene, which encodes intercellular adhesion molecule 1. This protein is known to function in cell adhesion and the regulation of apoptosis, among other biological roles. The human version of ICAM-1 has a canonical amino acid length of 532 residues and a protein mass of 57.8 kilodaltons. It is reported to be localized in the membrane of cells and notably expressed in many tissues, such as the colon and endometrium. Other names for this target antigen include BB2, CD54, and P3.58. A number of ICAM-1 antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
