Anti-THEM5 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein thioesterase superfamily member 5. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 247 amino acid residues and a mass of 27.7 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the mitochondria. A member of the THEM4/THEM5 thioesterase protein family, THEM5 is known to have acyl-CoA thioesterase activity towards long-chain (C16 and C18) fatty acyl-CoA substrates, with a preference for linoleoyl-CoA and other unsaturated long-chain fatty acid-CoA esters. Synonyms for this target antigen include acyl-CoA thioesterase THEM5, acyl-coenzyme A thioesterase 15, and acyl-coenzyme A thioesterase THEM5. THEM5 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine and chimpanzee species. Western Blot is a widely used application for the THEM5 antibodies listed below. In addition, ELISA is also a common application.
