Anti-B(p51A) antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target B(p51A) is a known alias name of the protein tumor protein p63, encoded by the TP63 gene in humans. This 680-amino acid residue protein is known to act as a sequence specific DNA binding transcriptional activator or repressor. It is localized to the nucleus of the cell and features ubiquitinated and sumoylated post-translational modifications. In terms of tissue expression, it is reported to be widely expressed, notably in the heart, kidney, placenta, prostate, skeletal muscle, testis and thymus, although the precise isoform varies according to tissue type. Other synonyms for B(p51A) include AIS and B(p51B).
