Anti-COX8A antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein cytochrome c oxidase subunit 8A. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 69 amino acid residues and a mass of 7.6 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the mitochondria. It is widely expressed across many tissue types. A member of a the Cytochrome c oxidase VIII protein family, COX8A is a known component of the cytochrome c oxidase, the last enzyme in the mitochondrial electron transport chain which drives oxidative phosphorylation. Synonyms for this target antigen include COX8, COX8-2, COX8L, MC4DN15, VIII, VIII-L, cytochrome c oxidase subunit 8A, mitochondrial, and COX.
