Anti-LSE antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the LSE antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the SIAE gene, which encodes sialic acid acetylesterase. This protein is known to function in carbohydrate metabolism and homeostasis, among other biological roles. The human version of LSE has a canonical amino acid length of 523 residues and a protein mass of 58.3 kilodaltons, although 2 isoforms have been identified. It is reported to be localized in the lysosomes and is secreted of cells and widely expressed in many tissue types. Other names for this target antigen include AIS6, AIS6, and CSE-C.
