Anti-5LO antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the 5LO antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the ALOX5 gene, which encodes arachidonate 5-lipoxygenase. This protein is known to function in carbohydrate metabolism and homeostasis and the regulation of angiogenesis, among other biological roles. The human version of 5LO has a canonical amino acid length of 674 residues and a protein mass of 78 kilodaltons, although 5 isoforms have been identified. It is reported to be localized in the membrane, nucleus, and cytoplasm of cells and notably expressed in many tissues, such as the caudate and cerebellum. This target antigen may also be known as 5-LOX. Western Blot is the most common application for the 5LO antibodies listed below. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
