Microglia Marker Antibody Products

Microglia marker antibodies are immunological tools used to detect markers expressed by microglia, which are the macrophages present in the central nervous system. Microglia make up 10-15% of all cells in the brain. They are involved in the phagocytosis of foreign molecules and aid in the upkeep and maintenance of brain tissue and cells. Microglia express varying markers depending on the condition. In inflammatory conditions, they can express CD45 and MHC II, while in resting conditions they can express CD45, CD68, CD11b, and CX3CR1. They have specific markers such as P2RY12, by which they can be distinguished from other cells in the CNS. Microglia marker antibodies can be used for Western blot, immunohistochemistry, and ELISA kits.
