Transcription Factor Inhibitors

Transcription factors are a broad class of proteins that are very well represented in the human genome- they are believed to number as much as ten percent of all genes. They are responsible for gene upregulation or activation by stabilizing the binding of RNA polymerase or by promoting histone acetylation. Likewise, they may also repress genes by blocking RNA polymerase. In clinical applications, several types of transcription factors have served as drug targets. For instance, inhibitors for androgen and estrogen receptors, types of nuclear receptor transcription factors, have found use in treating prostate and breast cancer, respectively. There may be inhibitors available targeting your desired transcription factor. Enter a keyword or target name or select a filter to help aid your search.
