After developing the 384-well microplate, Greiner Bio-One collaborated with BAYER AG to pioneer HTS advancement by utilizing space most efficiently within existing external dimensions. Increasing the wells 4-fold from 384 to 1536, this innovative design was first presented at MipTec, Arlington 1997. Today GBO manufactures 1536-well microplates with same quality of excellence as the original in clear, pigmented-opaque or uClear-film bottom selections for cell-based and biochemical assays, compound storage and acoustic dispensing. A square-round well design minimizes wicking / bubble formation for precise transfer. Polystyrene plates are configured in Hi or LoBase versions for ideal compatibility with top or bottom detections.
