Carbenicillin is an inhibitor of bacterial cell wall synthesis. High activity against gram-negative bacteria. Commonly used for the elimination of Agrobacterium species after inoculation. B-lactamase sensitive. Nontoxic to plant cells.
To make an antibiotic solution for Carbenicillin:
1. Dissolve 50 mg of carbenicillin in 1 mL of water.
2. Sterilize by filtration and store at -20 °C.
Note: The working solution of Carbenicillin should be 20 µg/mL for stringent plasmids and 60 µg/mL for relaxed plasmids.
