Discovery VP® Preparative HPLC System
from
Shimadzu
Description
DVP Preparative enables purification and collection of milligram to gram quantities of compounds generated from Drug Discovery, Medicinal Chemistry, Natural Product Isolation, and Organic Synthesis efforts. Like its DVP Analytical companion, DVP Prep offers complete control, enhanced functionality, and simplified operation. It is the ultimate in easy-to-use, unattended operation while delivering sophisticated fraction collection by many different means including: UV, Mass Spec, ELSD, and others – all in just a few mouse clicks. Scalable fraction collectors facilitate high-volume purification of lead candidates. A queue-based sample submission interface allows users to submit samples on a first-come, first-served basis, enabling scientists to concentrate on new chemistry instead of HPLC separations. Key features include: • Multiple Fraction Collectors: The multiplexing technology of Discovery VP lets you configure up to six fraction collectors for more than 800 5mL or 350 30 mL fractions. This scalability is crucial for facilities with a large number of users that generate many compounds daily. • Totally Automated: Eliminates the need for an operator to continually monitor the hardware and prepare the column for each injection. • Pictorial View of Sample Location: Supports several sample rack types for maximum flexibility. • Fraction Collection: Collects fractions based on slope and level signal values coming from the detector. When multiple detectors are configured, collection can be triggered by the UV or 'other' detector (MS, RID, or ELSD) signal. • Run Conditions Set by the Administrator
Specifications/Features
Features:
The Discovery VP Preparative system can accommodate up to six columns of any size. The multiplexing technology of Discovery VP lets you configure up to six fraction collectors for more than 800 5mL or 350 30 mL fractions. Discovery VP's full automation eliminates the need for an operator to continually monitor the hardware and prepare the column for each injection. Discovery VP supports several sample rack types for maximum flexibility. The Administrator configures the system for 100 2 mL vials, 80 4 mL vials, 25 13 mL vials, or two 96 or 384-position microtiter plates. The Administrator sets all of the column parameters such as maximum pressure and flow rate allowed, and can designate a 'default' method for each column so that when it is selected by a user, run conditions are automatically loaded.
The multiplexing technology of Discovery VP lets you configure up to six fraction collectors for more than 800 5mL or 350 30 mL fractions. This scalability is crucial for facilities with a large number of users that generate many compounds daily. Software options let you choose the collection volume to isolate one peak per tube, or break up a large peak and save only the most highly concentrated fractions.
Totally Automated Discovery VP's full automation eliminates the need for an operator to continually monitor the hardware and prepare the column for each injection. At startup, Discovery VP can prime the pumps, and before each injection the column is flushed and equilibrated and a baseline check is done to ensure stability. When all samples are complete, Discovery VP will flush all of the columns used in the queue and turn the power off to the pumps and detector.
Report Generation Users have a choice of two report formats in the Preparative system. One is a chromatogram and area percent report generated by CLASS-VP with a separate fraction collector report, and the other is a one-page 'integrated' report that consists of a chromatogram with peak shading to indicate filled tubes, and the tube location in one of up to six fraction collectors. click for picture

Run Conditions set by the Administrator The Administrator sets all of the column parameters such as maximum pressure and flow rate allowed, and can designate a 'default' method for each column so that when it is selected by a user, run conditions are automatically loaded. The default method contains frequently used run conditions and saves the user time during sample submission.
Fraction Collection Discovery VP collects fractions based on slope and level signal values coming from the detector. The Administrator establishes a range of values and users can adjust the sensitivity of the fraction collector to control the number of fractions obtained per run. When multiple detectors are configured, collection can be triggered by the UV or 'other' detector (MS, RID, or ELSD) signal.
