Description

The FLUOstar OPTIMA is a fully automated microplate based multidetection reader built for life science labs in academia and industry. The FLUOstar incorporates four different measurement principles:

  • Fluorescence Intensity – including FRET

  • Time-Resolved Fluorescence – including DELFIA®

  • High-Performance Luminescence (flash and glow) – DLReadyTM certified

  • UV/Vis Absorbance - with path length correction

It is designed for the widest possible range of non-radioactive labeled applications:
  • Ca2+ measurements (e.g. Ca2+ flux with Fura-2, Indo-1, or FLUO 3/4)
  • Enzyme activity
  • FRET / BRET assays
  • Cell toxicity, proliferation and viability
  • Protein and nucleic acid quantitation (Bradford, Lowry, DNA, 260 nm / 280 nm)
  • ATP quantification
  • Immunoassays, ELISAs
  • Luciferase, dual luciferase, BRET with simultaneous dual emission detection, DLReadyTM certified
  • ORAC and ABEL antioxidant assays

  • And many more assays

By integrating a high intensity xenon flash lamp with sophisticated light guide technology the FLUOstar OPTIMA can cover the wavelength range from 240 to 740 nm or 240 to 900 nm for excitation or emission. Temperature-regulated heating plates above and below the entire plate movement area provide uniform incubation up to 45°C or even 60°C for applications with elevated temperature needs.
The FLUOstar OPTIMA can be equipped with up to two reagent injectors, which can be used in protocols to deliver agonists, substrates, enzymes - even cells to wells for advanced microplate assays. Delivery volume is adjustable between 5-350 µL in 0.5 µL increments and is individually adjustable for each well allowing the user to produce dilution schemes, concentration ranges, etc. Other outstanding features of the FLUOstar OPTIMA include a standardized reader footprint for easy integration into robotic systems, a gas vent connection and upgradeibility to include addional detection modes including fluorescence polarization or Simultaneous Dual Emission detection. The FLUOstar OPTIMA also comes with BMG LABTECH's established Control Software and powerful Data Analysis Software, MARS.
The "QuickStart" mode allows novice users to read plates with just 3 clicks, and impressive well-scanning feature allows cell-based assays to be performed with ease. This highly intuitve software also provides nearly limitless possibilities for test set up where it is needed and includes a Wizard to guide the user through the entire data analysing process. Improved robotic integration capabilities via DDE or ActiveX interface, digital signature and FDA 21 CFR part 11 compliance of MARS complete this new software package.
