Lasergene Protean support contract from DNASTAR

Description

Lasergene® v.8.0 software suite for sequence analysis is the latest version of sequence analysis software from DNASTAR that has become a worldwide choice for molecular biology researchers in over 65 countries. The new Lasergene v8.0 has expanded analytical tools to simplify Primer Design, SNP Analysis, Protein Structural Analysis and identifying and annotating coding regions. Its simplified integration with DNASTAR’s SeqMan NGen tool for Next Generation sequence assembly, provides users with analytical tools needed to examine Next Generation sequencing data from Illumina® and Roche 454 Life Sciences®, in addition to that of Sanger platforms. Users can easily “upgrade” from conventional sequencing projects to Next Generation applications without purchasing new analytical software. Capabilities include automated virtual cloning, enhanced SNP detection, primer walking and bootstrapping. Additional levels of integration between programs including a quick “Send To” feature were also included in this major upgrade. Lasergene is available on both the latest Windows (XP and Vista™) and Macintosh® operating systems (OS X 10.4 and 10.5). The Lasergene suite offers the following modules, each developed using state of the art bioinformatics approaches and proven software techniques. Modules in the suite can be bundled together or purchased separately. • SeqBuilder – At the core of the software suite, this program allows the user to edit sequences, features and graphics, design Primers, visualize circular and linear maps, construct clones, translate DNA sequences, and analyze ORFs.• SeqMan Pro– Assemble sequences, analyze traces for confidence and consensus calculation using the best base calling method available, detect miscalls and SNPs, analyze SNPs, perform primer walking and analyze mate pairs to construct scaffolds and detect misalignments. SeqMan Pro provides users with the capability to assemble Roche 454 data and to visualize flowgrams. • MegAlign – Align pairwise and multiple DNA and protein sequences using a selection of methods, color and highlight alignments, cluster, and create phylogenetic trees. • PrimerSelect – Design single or multiplex PCR pairs, sequencing primers, and hybridization probes. • GeneQuest – Locate genomic features, genes, regulatory elements, and other sequence patterns. • Protean – Analyze protein sequence properties, structural characteristics, antigenic determinants, and protease digestion patterns and properties. • EditSeq – This tried and true part of Lasergene is used to read in older or unusual file types for simple sequence editing and review.
