RNA PCR facilitates low-level detection of cellular RNAs and RNA viruses. The GeneAmp® EZ rTth RNA PCR Kit is specifically designed for rapid, easy RNA PCR screening using the thermostable rTth DNA polymerase. Recombinant Thermus thermophilus (rTth) DNA polymerase is an ultra-pure, 94 kDa thermostable recombinant DNA polymerase, suitable for amplification of RNA targets (RNA PCR).
rTth DNA polymerase acts as both a reverse transcriptase and as a DNA polymerase in our unique single buffer system. The transition from reverse transcriptase activity to DNA polymerase activity takes place without subsequent buffer or reagent addition steps.1 Detection of a specific message from as few as 100 copies of target requires approximately two hours.
Carryover contamination between samples is minimized because there is only one reagent addition step. The kit is fully compatible with dUTP and AmpErase® UNG for PCR carryover prevention. This kit eliminates cumbersome northern or Southern blotting techniques to identify specific RNA species. The speed, sensitivity, and robustness, coupled with the ability to incorporate dUTP for carryover prevention makes the GeneAmp® EZ rTth RNA PCR Kit ideally suited for detection and quantitation of cellular and viral RNA or library screening.2,3
