A 60kD extracellular protein of Streptomyces avidinii with four highaffinity biotin binding sites. Unlike AVIDIN, streptavidin has a near neutral isoelectric point and is free of carbohydrate side chains. • Recombinant Streptavidin-NC produced in E.Coli is a single, nonglycosylated, polypeptide chain having a molecular mass of 24kDa. Recombinant Streptavidin-NC not only binds to nitrocellulose membrane readily but also preserves the full biotin binding ability.
