Description
Neogen’s enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) test kits are qualitative one-step kits designed as screening devices for the detection of drugs and/or their metabolites in forensic samples. The kits are intended for forensic use only. It is recommended that all suspect samples be confirmed by a quantitative method such as GC/MS.
The simple assay procedure includes the addition of samples or controls to the antibody-coated microplate followed by the addition of the enzyme conjugate (HRP). During an incubation, the drug in the sample and the drug enzyme conjugate compete for binding sites on the antibody-coated microplate. After the incubation, the microplate is washed and K-Blue® Substrate (TMB) is added. After a 30 minute substrate incubation the test can be read visually or with a microplate reader. The extent of color development is inversely proportional to the amount of drug in the sample or control. The absence of the drug in the sample will result in a blue color, whereas the presence of the drug will result in decreased or no color development.
