Isolated from a recombinant E. coli strain this enzyme catalyzes the transfer of the terminal phosphate group of ATP to 5'-OH ends of DNA or RNA. T4 polynucleotide kinase is recommended for 5'-OH end-labeling of oligonucleotides and polynucleotides.
