Description
The Captivate ferrofluid streptavidin is labeled with superparamagnetic particles that are ~200 nm in diameter and can be used in conjunction with the Captivate isolation systems (C-24700, C-24701, C-24702, C-24703). Streptavidin is a nonglycosylated biotin-binding protein that is isolated from bacteria and has a near-neutral isoelectric point. It is widely used to detect biotinylated probes because it reportedly exhibits less nonspecific binding than does the glycosylated, biotin-binding protein, avidin.
