Description
TubulinTracker™ Green reagent (T34075) provides greenfluorescent
staining of polymerized tubulin in live cells. Also
known as Oregon Green® 488 Taxol bis-acetate (a bi-acetylated
version of Oregon Green® 488 Taxol (P22310)), TubulinTracker™
Green reagent is an uncharged, nonfluorescent compound that
easily passes through the plasma membrane of live cells. Once
inside the cell, the lipophilic blocking group is cleaved by nonspecific
esterases, resulting in a green-fluorescent, charged form.
The non-acetylated version of Oregon Green® 488 Taxol has
previously been recommended for live-cell labeling; however,
TubulinTracker™ Green reagent permeates cells more readily,
providing more uniform labeling and better selectivity.
