The LUMIstar OPTIMA is a fully automated DLReady^TM certified microplate luminometer that is designed for flash and glow luminescence on the widest possible range of applications such as:

• Reporter gene assays luciferase, ß-galactosidase, gene activities with luminescence substrates (luminol, acridinium esters, dioxetanes...)


• Luminescent immunoassays


• Cell-based assays (cytotoxity and proliferation, intracellular Ca²⁺ with Aequorin)

BMG LABTECH’s Digital Photon Integration (DPI) technology and the programmable Gain control give the LUMIstar OPTIMA the best sensitivity, with extended linear dynamic range. By incorporating on-board reagent injectors, flash kinetic reactions can be measured at a frequency of 20Hz or 50 measurement points per second. The faster transport system allows 96-well plates to be read in as little as 20 seconds.

The LUMIstar OPTIMA comes with a wide range of outstanding features such as incubation up to 45°C or even 60°C, gas vent connection, a built-in filter wheel for luminescence assays with the need for measuring at distinct wavelengths such as BRET and more. This upgradeable luminescence microplate reader can also be equipped with up to two reagent injectors, each simulaneously accesses the measurement position providing unlimited possibilities for fast kinetic assays. You can adjust injection speed and timing that is appropriate for the assay within the control software. The LUMIstar OPITMA also has top and bottom optic reading capability. It is also possible to inject into a 384-well plate and to read before, during and after injection. A unique assay development feature in the software allows the researchers to determine optional reagent volumes using individual injection volumes for each well. The LUMIstar OPTIMA also offers the most comprehensive and powerful software package on the maket. BMG LABTECH's established Reader Control Software and MARS Data Analysis Software are also FDA 21 CFR part 11 complaint.

The LUMIstar OPTIMA can also be incorporated into a wide array of robotic systems via DDE or ActiveX interface. For rapid mid-throughput plate handling, BMG LABTECH offers a 50 plate Stacker with optional barcode reader.

According to individual requirements of the user, the LUMIstar OPTIMA is entirely upgradeable to FLUOstar OPTIMA or POLARstar OPTIMA, with additional detection modes including fluorescence intensity, time-resolved fluorescence, fluorescence polarization, absorbance and Simultaneous Dual Emission detection. This unique feature allows the user to upgrade the LUMIstar OPTIMA microplate luminometer to a powerful multidetection microplate reader.
