Description

The NEPHELOstar measures forward light scatter of samples in microplates and offers laboratories a rapid method for solubility screening, bacterial and fungal growth, quantification of macromolecules, formation of immunocomplexes and flocculation, quality control and much more. The NEPHELOstar is laser based and outperforms halogen lamp based units both in sensitivity and reproducibility, and can even read 384-well plates for high throughput.

These features, along with BMG LABTECH´s Digital Photon Integration (DPI) technology, ensure that the NEPHELOstar is approximately thirty times more sensitive than conventional transmission readers.
The intensity and beam diameter of the laser light can be adjusted in the easy to use Software, and this allows measurement of light scatter in colored or turbid solutions. In addition, the flexible beam diameter allows measurement in up to 384-well microplate format.

Temperature-regulated heating plates above and below the entire plate movement area provide uniform incubation up to 38°C. The NEPHELOstar also has the option of adding a gas vent and up to three on-board reagent injectors which allow simultaneous injection and reading of up to three different reagents per well.

The NEPHELOstar can be incorporated into a wide array of robotic systems via ActiveX or DDE interface. For mid-thoughput plate handling, BMG LABTECH also offers the 50 plate stacker with an integrated bar code reader.

The NEPHELOstar comes with BMG LABTECH's established Reader Control Software and powerful MARS Data Analysis Software. It is compatible with the Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 operating systems, offers an extended ASCII data export function and is fully compliant with FDA regulation 21 CFR Part 11.

Developed to meet high-throughput demands, this microplate-based nephelometer is faster than conventional solubility, precipitaion, etc. detection methods with the highest sensitivity and flexibility.
