Biohit's mLine Pipettor

Biohit's mLine Pipettor
The Biohit mLine pipettors are currently available in both fixed and variable volume modes, as well as single and multichannel frames. We recently bought mLine single channel, variable volume pipettors and are fully satisfied with our decision for several reasons.

One of the most appreciable advantages of this pipettor is the ease of calibration. Calibration takes only a few minutes and is very simple to perform, compared with the rather laborious calibration procedures for other pipettors. It can, in fact, be carried out by any user and does not require a trained technician. The accuracy of this pipettor is useful for enzymatic assays, PCR reactions and samples containing radioactive material; applications requiring small volumes where even fractional variations between samples can lead to erroneous results.

Also, the light weight as compared to others makes this pipettor suitable for routine laboratory work. In addition, the body of the pipettor provides a firm grip, making it very easy to handle. The display is big, clear and easy to read. Very little force is required for both suction and dispension and the tip ejector is easy to operate.

The pipettors come in ranges from 0.5 ul - 5.0 ml. Multichannel pipettors are also available within the same range. The pipettor is compatible with tips of all makes. All pipettors are provided with a filter to prevent accidental contamination of the liquid being pipetted via backflow except the 0.5-10 ul model. This also prevents the interior of the pipettor from corroding due to contact with solvent. In the event that liquid is drawn back into the pipettor, it can be opened up and cleaned easily. All the variable volume pipettors come with a lock system that prevents accidental volume changing while pipetting. Finally, the pipettor is fully autoclavable; a feature that is extremely important for carrying out cell and tissue culture work.

The pipettor is provided with lubrication paste for the pistons. This should be applied regularly for proper functioning and maintenance of the pipettor (every 2 to 3 weeks if used regularly). The pipettor comes with colored rubber caps that help in identifying the pipettors, as well as, marking them for different uses. Each set also comes with a holder for keeping the pipettor on the workbench.

Biohit's mLine Pipettor
The Good

Light weight, minimal pressure required for pipetting operating and extremely easy to calibrate.

The Bad

Lubricating paste is required quite often and the amount provided with each set is probably not sufficient.

The Bottom Line

A must-have for routine purpose in the laboratory and also for cell and tissue culture work due to its fully-autoclavable property.
