Our lab works on developing different mouse models to study the efficacy of novel vaccines and therapeutic candidates against HIV, as the virus cannot infect rodent cells. One of the models that we have generated expresses three transgenic human host factors that support HIV infection in mouse cells, as well as an HIV provirus. We are interested in examining HIV pathogenesis in the brains of these mice, and we get RNA from the tissue to perform RT-qPRC.
