While isolating lymphocytes from various tissues, we need to be able to spin many samples and sometimes keep the samples at 4 degrees Celsius. This centrifuge allows us to control these things so we can more efficiently isolate cells.

Experimental Design and Results Summary

Application

Spin tubes of cells and other solutions; some of which must be kept cold while spinning.

Starting Material

Tubes of cells and other solutions

Protocol Overview

The correct temperature is set and the centrifuge will spin to achieve that temperature. When done, tubes containing cells in various solutions (media, lysis buffer, facs buffer, etc) are add to the centrifuge and balanced. Time, speed, acceleration and brake are set and spin is started. Centrifuge will beep when finished.

Tips

Set the temperature without samples inside because it will spin to get to correct temperature.

Results Summary

We can easily and quietly spin down samples at various temperatures that are optimal for our samples.

Features Summary

Temperature control, many tube size adapters

Summary

The Good

Keep samples at a constant temperature, relatively quiet spin

The Bad

Needs to be cleaned periodically due to condensation buildup.

The Bottom Line

This is a good centrifuge for large tubes or many samples that need to be refrigerated.
