Company:

Taylor-Wharton

Product Name:

K Series Cryogenic Systems

Catalog Number:

6900-61

Our lab isolated many billions of mouse and human cells from whole tissue and are able to cryopreserve viable cells for later applications such as flow cytometry, DNA/RNA extraction, and functional assays.

Experimental Design and Results Summary

Application

Cryogenic liquid nitrogen tank to keep cells frozen, but viable for long periods.

Starting Material

Freezer boxes

Protocol Overview

Cells are added to freezing media and stored in -80 degress for a day. Then they are moved to boxes and stored in the cryostorage freezer and can be left for years if freezer stays at temperature (about -180 degree celcius).

Tips

Monitor temperature and liquid nitrogen levels closely.

Results Summary

We are able to freeze down living cells so that we can thaw them and use them later without the death of too many cells in the process. Thus, we are able to have an inventory of cells from many tissues and many animals for larger comparative studies.

Features Summary

Holds hundreds of freezer boxes.

Summary

The Good

Alarms when liquid nitrogen levels are low and holds many samples.

The Bad

Must always be connected to liquid nitrogen tank.

The Bottom Line

This cryosystem allows us to keep viable cells for later use.
