This QIAshredder kit quickly and efficiently breaks apart cells to release DNA and RNA. Our lab isolates lymphocytes from both mouse and human tissues to characterize the different populations throughout the body and analyze their function. We frequently need to isolate RNA and DNA from single cells for applications such as RT-PCR and RNAseq.
Lysing cells to isolate RNA/DNA
Isolated cells in lysis buffer
Isolated cells in lysis buffer are added to the Qiashredder column and spun at maximum speed for two minutes. The flow through containing the DNA/RNA is collected and the column is discarded. The flow through is then used with one of the Qiagen RNA/DNA isolation kits.
If your sample does not fit in column, you can spin the column twice.
We are able to isolate DNA and RNA with good purity and good yield using this QiaShredder kit.
