The focus of our research is to evaluate novel imaging agents, but we first need to pick a biomarker and determine its expression level in the disease model. We extract protein from cells and tissue for Western blots. We have found that large homogenizers are costly and the small handheld ones function just as well as the larger ones in most cases.
