I use this antibody for identification of T cells. This antibody can be used for a variety of experiments, for example identifying the number/percentage of T cells within a given population, and also for cell sorting. For cell sorting, I first gate on CD3+ cells to identify T cells and then can use antibodies against a variety of T cell markers (CD4, CD8, CD45RA, etc.) to sort different T cell subset. I use antibodies against CD3 with a variety of different fluorochromes and this is one of many colors that I have available so that I have flexibility when designing flow panels. The use of this antibody requires that your flow cytometer have a violet laser so it is not suitable for many models. Also note spillover into other brilliant violet colors when selecting panel. For more simple panels I would recommend choosing less expensive fluorochromes (eg FITC) and these would also be suitable for less advanced flow cytometers. This might be an antibody you select if you are designing panels with several colors.
