Lookout Mycoplasma Erase

Catalog Number:

L8917

I recently determined mycoplasma in a cell line that I developed over months. To avoid future contamination, I purchased this spray to ensure all cell culture surfaces and equipment used in our cell culture room are sterile. So far, I have not had re-emergence of mycoplasma in my samples.

Experimental Design and Results Summary

Application

Removal of mycoplasma from equipment and surfaces

Starting Material

Protocol Overview

I thoroughly cleaned every surface in the cell culture hood with a 25% bleach solution, and allow to dry. I also cleaned equipment used in the hood (tube racks, pipettes, etc) with bleach, then followed by UV irradiation. Finally, I used the Lookout Mycoplasma Erase on everything. Also, I now spray my hands and anything that enters the hood with the Erase solution.

Tips

A little goes a long way, so don't over spray.

Results Summary

So far, I have not seen new introduction of mycoplasma contamination into my cultures. Even after having a high school student work in the lab!
