We use this special reagent as an intermediate unconjugated secondary antibody to analyze samples of crude Arabidopsis thaliana (mouse-ear cress) protein extract from seedlings or later developmental stages and bacterial extracts according to their protein content. Upon incubation, a third conjugated antibody is applied to further increase amplification. We use this specific antibody to determine whether the target is expressed in the plant by standard western blotting. This antibody is one of the few reagents working for signal amplification, amongst the ones we have tested.
