The 200-301-268 Rockland antibody was tried in comparison with the proven-to-work rabbit anti S473 Akt antibody from Cell Signaling. The antibodies were examined for detection of phosphorylated Akt in the lysates of prostate cancer tumor cells stimulated with HGF. The antibody 200-301-268 from Rockland produced a lot of nonspecific bands (up to 10 bands with different intensities), none of which discriminated between non-activated and activated Akt. This was in contrast to Cell Signaling antibody, which perfectly indicated HGF-stimulation of Akt phosphorylation. I would not recommend this antibody for cell signaling research.
The antibody produced a lot of non-specific bands whithout any indication of phospho Akt, confirmed in the same lysates by another anti-phospho Akt antibody.
