These competent cells are used for cloning proviral vectors. The competent cells are excellent for growing viral vectors with LTRs because they are RecA deficient.
Molecular Cloning
None
Mix DNA with cells. Incubate for 30 min. on ice. Heat shock the cells and then chill on ice. Add SOC media for 1 hour and then plate onto bacterial plates.
Gently mix the cells with DNA
Used for transformation of proviral vectors and have not had issues with recombination.
No recombination
Price
These are good competent cells for vectors containing LTRs.
