We grow cancer cell lines for animal implantation. As we have many cell lines growing at any given time, we needed to buy two new incubators. After doing some searching, I worked with our VWR representative to obtain a great price on the VWR symphony series. We purchased two stackable incubators and have been using them for ~1 year with no problems or concerns.

Experimental Design and Results Summary

Application

Cell culture and oxyen tank

Starting Material

Cell lines

Protocol Overview

We grow cell cultures in a humidified environment with 5% C02 at 37 degrees Celsius. These are normal conditions for growing most cell lines.

Tips

We highly recommend gettin the infrared (IR) sensor-based CO2 control unit.

Results Summary

We have never had any issues with the incubator. Since we have the infrared (IR) sensor-based CO2 control unit, it will sometimes beep when you have had the door open too long. To stop this, just press the silence button. The setup process was simple and the cleaning procedure is simple, yet it takes about 40 hours. Normally, we will perform the cleaning protocol over the weekend.

Features Summary

The IR-sensor and the ability to stack the units are great features.
