Product Name:

PAXgene Blood miRNA kit

Catalog Number:

763134

MicroRNA can be extracted using the PAXegene Blood miRNA kit. Whole blood needs to be collected in the PAXgene Blood RNA tubes. Total RNA yield is good but purity is low.

Experimental Design and Results Summary

Application

MicroRNA and RNA-based PCR reactions

Starting Material

Whole blood

Protocol Overview

The PAXgene blood miRNA kit is very simple and easy to follow. Briefly, cells are pelleted, washed, proteins degraded, cells homogenized and DNA digested. Eluted extract is tested for quality and quantity using the Nanodrop.

Tips

Use a syringe and needle in the homogenization step.

Results Summary

Good yield. Both total RNA and microRNA populations are extracted using this protocol. Purity of extracts are generally low.

Summary

The Good

Allows for the detection of total RNA and microRNA population

The Bad

Low purity.

The Bottom Line

The only difference between the PAXgene Blood RNA kit and the PAXgene Blood microRNA kit is that in the latter you can extract both the total RNA and miRNA population.
