Our lab masses out quantities of cancer drugs down to tenths of milligrams, and we need a good scale in order to do so. This particular analytical balance is extremely effective at measuring extremely small masses, and is also quite user-friendly. We have used it successfully many different times to mass out correct quantities of drugs.

Turn on the scale and zero it. Add an empty container and tare the scale. Replace the empty container with a full container, and take down the mass of the container's contents. Re-zero the scale and turn it back off.

Tips

Cut down on any airflow near the scale or it will teeter endlessly.

Results Summary

Our lab has used this scale repeatedly to mass out drug quantities for in-vitro and in-vivo experiments and we haven't had an issue yet. In addition to being user-friendly, this scale is extremely precise. It is easy to clean, zeros and tares quickly, and has held up to repeated long-term abuse very well.

A great scale for the money. It handles abuse well and has continued to work for years on end without a re-calibration. I highly recommend this scale for anyone massing out milligrams of substances.
