Company:

Santa Cruz Biotechnologies, Inc.

Product Name:

MOZ Antibody (N-19): sc-5713

Catalog Number:

sc-5713

Our lab generates a lot of protein knockouts in mouse embryonic stem cells using crispr-cas9 technology. We use western blots and subsequent sequencing to screen potential knockout clones. We chose this antibody, because we've had some luck with Santa Cruz antibodies before.

Experimental Design and Results Summary

Applications

Western Blot

Sample

Whole cell lysates from mouse ES cells

Primary Incubation

1:500 dilution overnight in 5% milk buffer at 4C

Blocking Agent

5% milk in PBST

Secondary Incubation

NA

Detection

Exposure with SuperSignal™ West Femto Maximum Sensitivity Substrate, imaged with apparatus from BioRad

Results Summary

This was the worst antibody I have used this year. Very high background and weak non-specific staining made the data unreadable. I ran the WB multiple times with fresh reagents, thinking the background was due to a bad reagent. However, every WB looked like this one. This seems to be a pattern with Santa Cruz antibodies made in goat specifically.
