We sort cell populations after staining on a regular basis. These cells are used for various in vitro assays. BD has really good products on the market for this purpose.

Two color stain was done along with isotype control and sorted on the machine using BD FACS Aria.

Tips

Prior knowledge of machine operation is needed. Machine does tend to clog so care has to be taken to run samples in appropriate dilution and after filteration right before running on the machine

>95% purity of cells required for plating was obtained

Features Summary

Windows platform is always the best. FACS Diva is easy to learn

Overall good for sorting purposes for people who do regular sorting like those in the core facilities. Machine does need the user to be trained first for use.
