Our lab routinely aliquots reagents after bulk purchases, which involves a great deal of pipetting. Having an electronic pipette that can hold a good volume and dispense set amounts accurately saves time, money, and effort. We chose this particular repeater pipette because we heard good things about it from other labs, and Eppendorf is always prompt with their customer service if anything does go wrong.

Protocol Overview

The interface for the pipette is extremely intuitive and easy to use. Set the volume you'd like dispensed each time, the amount of times to dispense, and the speed of dispensing, and then you're good to go. Just hit the center button each time and it will automatically dispense the dictated amount.

Tips

The speed setting should be inversely related to the viscosity of the liquid being pipetted.

Results Summary

We double-checked the dispensed volumes to be sure, and the error rate is extremely low. For the most viscous of solutions and the least viscous, this is always my go-to pipette for convenience and speed.

The Bottom Line

While expensive, any lab that makes good use of this repeater will quickly see its merit. The amount of settings that can be altered are just enough for someone to understand without feeling overwhelmed, and the variety of combi-tips allow for use with a range of volumes. I highly recommend this repeater pipette for general lab use.
