Nkx6.1 is an essential islet beta cell specific transcription factor. Nkx6.1 maintains normal islet beta cell function and fates. This regulator has been found to be compromised in Type 2 diabetic islet beta cells. We have focused on establishing the expression pattern of Nkx6.1 in Type 1 diabetes. We have immunostained normal mouse pancreas slides to determine the right concentration to use for detection by immunofluorescence.

Experimental Design and Results Summary

Applications

Results Summary

Nkx6.1 staining was specific for islet beta cells in 8 week old mouse pancreas tissue. Insulin (green) and Glucagon (white) were utilized for determining specific binding in islet beta cells, and not alpha cells.

The Bottom Line

This antibody works great for Nkx6.1 detection by immunofluorescence. It is offered at a price equal to production costs, which is ~8-10 times less than commercial distributors.
