CD11b is expressed on several immune cells including macrophages and monocytes. I used this antibody for identifying CD11b high macrophages within splenocytes. The expression of CD11b is variable on different cells and only the high expression population is considered macrophages. Due to very high expression level, the antibody had to be titrated for optimal staining.

The expression of CD11b was quite variable and a clear population with very high expression was observed. These were indeed macrophages after confirmation with secondary markers like F4/80.
