I am conducting research on Parkinson’s disease, looking specifically at how effector T cells are able to modulate and exacerbate the neurodegeneration seen in the substantia nigra of Parkinson’s patients. This Fisher Scientific Isotemp 205 waterbath was used in the heat inactivation of FBS.

FBS
Fetal Bovine Serum is thawed from -20 degrees C to room temperature. The FBS is then heated in the waterbath at 56 degrees C for 30 minutes before being aliquoted and frozen at -20 degrees C again.
Do not leave the FBS in the heated waterbath for longer than the alloted time.
The FBS is completely heat inactivated after 30 minutes in the heated waterbath.
