Detecting cancer stem cells is never easy. Scientists usually use a selection of antibodies. Our lab chose CD166 (which has been recently identified as a potential cancer stem cell marker). We used it on a pancreatic cancer cell line that was grown as spheres and expressed the general characteristics of stem cells.
Flow Cytometry
PC3 pancreatic cancer cell line
No dilution, 20 minutes, on ice incubation
NA
Flow cytometry (FL-2 channel)
The antibody showed a distinctly strong signal in comparison to the PE-IgG isotype control.
