Company:

US Biological

Product Name:

5-Fluoroorotic Acid Monohydrate (FOA, 5-FOA)

Catalog Number:

F5050

I have used this for fungal transformation; it worked pretty nicely. I would like to order this product again should I ever need to do that experiment.

Experimental Design and Results Summary

Application

Fungal transformation

Starting Material

Trichoderma reesei QM6a

Protocol Overview

Have to check the presence/absence of pyr4 gene in T. reesei genome. By using 5-FOA, we could able to check whether the dUMP->dTMP pathway is blocked or not. In another way, if T. reesei survives that indicates the presence of pyr4 gene and 5-FOA is not toxic to cells.

Tips

Fungal transformation check

Results Summary

It worked for me when doing homologous transformation by inserting and deleting of pyr4 genes.
