Sigma's alpha-tubulin mouse monoclonal antibody is really great. While it is expensive, since this is a fairly ubiquitously expressed protein, you can easily get away with dilutions of 1:5000 and above for Western immunoblotting and immunocytochemistry (at least in our experimental setting). The results are very clear and do not seem to change between different lots. I would highly recommend this antibody for anyone looking for a reliable, strong loading control (for Westerns) as well as an indicator of tubulin structure (ICC/IHC).
