Company:

AbD Serotec (Bio-Rad)

Product Name:

Neurofilament M antibody

Catalog Number:

MCA4752

These antibodies were used in work in my previous lab with Dr. Scott Whittemore at the Kentucky Spinal Cord Injury Research Center at the University of Louisville.  We were characterizing cells from our then-novel technique of isolating mouse oligodendrocyte precursor cells from the cortex of post-natal mice.  Since this line of cells is a progenitor line, we used quite a few different antibodies to convince ourselves that we had the cells we were looking for, at the right developmental stage.  Some of the antibodies were used to show that the cells were expressing appropriate markers; others were used to insure that we did not have inappropriate markers in our cell line, and thus in impure population.  Once we were confident in the cell line, we then co-cultured them with rat dorsal root ganglion neurons as an in vitro model of myelination.  This antibody stains rat embryonic DRG neurons in culture beautifully!
