I have used the SeraMir Exosome RNA Purification kit to purify RNA from exosomes isolated from serum, using ExoQuick. I selected this product as it is recommended for RNA isolation following ExoQuick exosome purification.

Protocol Overview

The protocol is column based and involves adding lysis solution to the exosome pellet, followed by subsequent addition of ethanol. The sample is them added to the supplied spin column, which is washed with the supplied wash solution and the RNA eluted.

Tips

Lysis solution can be added directly to the exosome pellet following ExoQuick.

Results Summary

RNA extraction is effective and the purified RNA can be amplified in downstream qRT-PCR. However, the yield is lower than other commercially available kits when comparisons were performed in this laboratory.
