Creatinine is a key waste product in muscle from high energy compound, creatine phosphate. The amount of creatinine produced is highly constant and is primarily a function of muscle mass. It is removed from plasma by glomerular filtration and then excreted from urine without any appreciable reabsorbtion by the tubules. Creatinine is an useful indicator of renal function. Secondly, in the same kit, it is possible to work on both serum samples as well as on the urine samples. Also, the protocol is sensitive enough to allow estimation in range of 20mg/dl levels and for higher values samples can be diluted with normal saline and results can be calculated by multiplying with dilution factor
