I am interested in the microRNA expression of exosomes isolated from human plasma. I have used this kit to extract RNA from exosomes isolated using ExoQuick. This is a cheaper alternative to the RNA extraction kit recommended by the suppliers of ExoQuick and RNA extraction is comparable.

The Norgen Biotek RNA Purification Kit methodology is similar to other column based extraction protocols, whereby RNA including microRNA and ncRNA are isolated without the need for phenol/chloroform. The sample is lysed using lysis buffer with the addition of B-mercaptoethanol, the addition of ethanol ensures binding of RNA to the column, which is then subjected to washing steps and the purified RNA is eluted into the sullpied elution solution.
The volume of elution solution can be adjusted to maximise concentration in small-yield samples
RNA is of high quality according to NanoDrop spectrophotometer readings, with high absorbency ratios. The RNA can be readily amplified by downstream qRT-PCR.
